What is the PolyFinances Datathon?
The Datathon is an intensive event where students passionate about data compete to solve real-world challenges. It's a unique opportunity to apply your skills, learn new techniques and collaborate with other talents.
Who can take part in the PolyFinances Datathon?
The Datathon is open to all university and college students, regardless of their program of study. Whether you're in finance, computer science, statistics, engineering or any other field, you're welcome!
Do I need a team?
Having a team is recommended but not mandatory! Teams are limited to 4 students. It's advisable to have at least one or two people with programming skills, as the datathon relies heavily on these technical skills.
If there aren't four of you in your team yet, we'll make sure you get together with other participants to form full teams.
If you don't want to be four, you can specify this when you register, and we'll take it into account.
What should I bring?
Most importantly, don't forget a valid ID! As for the rest, it's up to you, but here are a few essentials to get you coding in a cool and happy mood:
- A laptop (better for coding than a toaster)
- Chargers (because a computer without a battery is just a tray)
- A bottle of water to stay hydrated (coffee doesn't count... well, it does a little)
- A change of clothes (just in case you do one with your chair)
- A toothbrush and toothpaste for the more motivated of you who intend to stay through the night.
In short, everything you need to have a great time, code hard and not end up stuck to your neighbor (literally)!
Will there be mentors to help us?
Absolutely! Expert mentors from industry and academia will be on hand throughout the event to guide you, answer your questions and give you valuable advice on your projects.
